PARRSBORO, N.S. (Nov. 27, 2008) — The RCMP are investigating the discovery of a partial human skull found inside a wall at a Nova Scotia church.
Contractors were excavating a section of wall at First Baptist Church in Parrsboro when the skull portion rolled out.
A forensic anthropologist was called in from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax but no other remains were found.
The skull fragment has been taken to Saint Mary’s to determine the age, sex and ethnicity of the person.
The original church was built in 1867 while the area the skull was found was added around 1945.
The RCMP says the church cemetery is located about two kilometres away and there are no records of any burials in close proximity to the church.
